I am so happy that I made the time to read this – I got to page 74 and realized I’ll need to keep the whole book as my reference guide when I’m actually writing…. The first 70 some odd pages were incredible. Your writing is clear and to the point. You add such wonderful, succinct humour throughout the chapters that you make me laugh just when I’m beginning to feel overwhelmed about the next article I’m going to write. Geez, you make it sound so easy that at one point I thought I’d just get you to write my stuff in the future…. At least then it would have a consistent writing structure.
I am blown away at how easily you speak (ha ha – write) about something that is so often a challenge to execute.
Let the truth be told – this book will definitely turn great speakers into great writers.
You should be given an award!

Clear, easy, enjoyable reading – demonstrates what you are trying to convey (writing like you talk). I’ve always liked your sense of humour so I find the little touches like mentioning teens cleaning up after themselves great.
Lucia Kuzminski

I’m really very happy for you & I know your book is going to be a runaway success. I can see so many extensions for you coming out of this book. For example, how to write a speech, how to write to get published, how to write poetry (why not?).
Barry Kuntz

It’s engaging and uplifting. I find it refreshing to read books about writing that are actually well written. Yours is.

Straightforward, shoot from the hip techniques to make writing as clear and targeted as possible. I plan to keep the book as a handy reference when writing my monthly newsletters.

  2. Your book could not have come timelier to me as I recently started my first book project. Reading your book has brought structure to my project. I have been using your worksheets and it has been a fantastic help. I absolutely LOVE your humour and you certainly prove your point about the importance of using humour and bringing your persona out through your writing. You have given me so much inspiration and pushed me to move forward to write like I talk – only better. Thank you! Mette Keating

  3. Write Like You Talk is just perfect. So many people in so many walks of life struggle endlessly with writing tasks from long reports to sales letters to simple emails. I know because I teach writing workshops to non-pro writers.

I think everyone needs a copy of Write Like You Talk – to help them to take the pain out of the writing process, to help get their ideas flowing, and to make self-editing editing more intuitive.

Barb’s advice is spot on — know your audience, and write like you talk. Like YOU talk. Not someone else.

The worksheets are a very practical addition that can help readers to put Barb’s advice into action.

WELL DONE, Barb. Please let me know how I can help spread the word.

“Write like you talk-only better” not only provides tips and tricks to make you a better writer, it teaches by example. The book is easy to read, easy to understand, crammed full with interesting tidbits, and entertaining to boot. It takes the fear out of writing well by trimming the basic principles into easily digestible bits.

I only wish there had been a book like this when I was writing to my boss or starting out as a freelance writer. It would have shaved off years of learning by trial and error and eliminated many sleepless nights. Right on, Barb, and write on.

  6. Write Like You Talk should be an essential tool for everyone who writes for business, from clerks to CEOs. Even seasoned communicators can learn from it.

Barb goes through the step-by-step process of making writing easier and faster and helping words sparkle. The worksheets are a great resource for practicing.

A great book for writers and non-writers (or those who think they’re non-writers) alike!

  15. I needed to put you that very little word so as to thank you the moment again for your great secrets you’ve documented on this page. It’s quite strangely generous with you to make unreservedly exactly what many individuals might have marketed for an e book in order to make some profit for their own end, most importantly considering the fact that you might have tried it in case you desired. Those good ideas additionally served to become a great way to be certain that other people have the same fervor like mine to figure out great deal more in respect of this problem. I am sure there are a lot more enjoyable instances in the future for people who read through your site.
