Final bit from the IABC world conference: our Annette

A week after the IABC world conference, this story keeps echoing in my head. It’s about Annette Martell, local wonder who was officially named an IABC fellow during the opening session.

Annette Martell at the IABC world conferenceI’ve known Annette for years, but come to like her even more after exchanging funny stories about puppy training. As much as I am a sucker for cute pet tales, this is better.

Sunday was quite a day for Annette, what with the fancy VIP reception, the manic drumming entertainment, her speech to several hundred and the classy party at the Royal Ontario Museum.

Back at the hotel, Annette and her husband realized they had not eaten. It was too late to find a decent restaurant and they wanted to savor what remained of the day.

So they walked across the street to the one still-open hot dog vendor at City Hall and placed their order. They sat on a curb in front of city hall dripping ketchup, holding hands, just the two of them talking. The perfect ending, Annette insisted.
